| Please read before sending your questionnaire. If you have questions, ask. Cherrywood’s contract is a legally binding document designed to protect the Breeder, the Purchaser and the Puppy. As Purchaser you are agreeing to have your new puppy examined by your veterinarian within 72 hours of receipt so you know you are starting out healthy. You are agreeing to maintain the dog in good health, provide routine preventative health care, inoculations and such along with proper diet and exercise, containment within a properly fenced yard (not a dog pen) which we will have spoken about, and avowing that this puppy will become a member of your family, not left in a backyard nor kennel continually. You're agreeing to attend obedience classes which is in both you and your dog's best interests, to get the Puppy off of your property on a regular weekly basis to investigate its world and socialize with people and dogs to help bring out the dog's naturally confident temperament, despite bad weather. You are agreeing to return the Puppy to the Breeder should you decide at some point that you can't keep it or allow the Breeder to help you rehome it, Breeders choice, and never to sell, give, lease or consign to any broker, store, kennel, puppy mill, or commercial breeding establishment, nor turn it into a shelter or pound. If you are acquiring a show prospect we will discuss the added responsibilities for those owners. As the Breeder I believe in teaching owners to think, rather than doing the thinking for them, so I agree to provide you with information on basics like feeding, crates etc as well as a lot of articles and websites dealing with canine culture, puppy socialization, housebreaking etc etc once your puppy is born. I'll also be posting information on your litter and photos weekly on the "current litter" page so that you are kept informed of what the pups are doing. Your puppy will have its first set of puppy shots, be vet checked and have been wormed at least twice as well as treated for any other parasites as necessary. I will supply health certificates to buyers who are flying out of state. I will give you a copy of your puppy's pedigree from Cherrywood and you will be able to order an official one from the AKC. Your puppy's litter will be registered with AKC when it is born, and I will have a list of available registered names for you to pick from with Cherrywood at the beginning for your individual registrations. You will provide a check for AKC at the time of pick up and I will help you fill them out and I will mail all of them out together after the last puppy leaves. Our contract will have a 24 mo. replacement guarantee on your puppy should it have to be euthanized due to severe hip dysplasia and I have a "first right of refusal" clause should you ever have to re-home your Leo. If I cannot take your Leo back to re-home it myself, I will help you try to find a suitable home. Because sometimes life situations change, you must agree to raise a well mannered and socialized dog who can fit into another home should the need arise. It would be very hard to place an uncontrolled, 3 year old, 140 lb. Leo who does not know how to interact with humans or other animals and a shame to have to euthanize it! I do not guarantee hips to repeat buyers who have not met their previous contractual agreements. I agree to provide you with the puppy I feel will be best for your family's needs. Our puppies are structurally evaluated between 7- 8 weeks of age and also aptitude tested at that point. All of our companion puppies are sold on spay/neuter contracts with AKC “limited registration.” That means, although it will not be able to be shown in conformation nor bred, you and your pup can participate in the AKC performance activities like Obedience, Rally, Agility, or Junior showmanship. If you are a serious and experienced handler or breeder, or a conscientious, potential show/breeding home, I’ll be happy to speak with you about our requirements for our show/breeding prospects.
