Ann Rogers...
- although now semi-retired is a current full member of the Association of Pet Dog
Trainers,
- has been a behavioral specialist, consultant, lecturer, instructor and owner of
Happy Tails To You School For Dogs since 1980 , has served as an expert court
witness on canine behavior and has been a guest speaker on canine behavior for
area dog clubs, humane, civic organizations and schools in a tri-county area.
- was the first instructor in the area to establish "kindergarten classes" in the early
80s, and to gear classes towards owners wanting well-behaved family companions
rather than obedience trial dogs.
- has helped more than 11,000 dogs and their owners in Northern Ohio to develop
terrific relationships through understanding how a dog thinks and reacts.
- began her career in the late '70s learning the art of instructing owners to train
their dogs at the University of Delaware, with Dick Maller, author of "21 Days to
a Trained Dog," and continues to attend seminars from a number of well known
behaviorists and trainers.
- wrote the weekly "Let's Talk About Dogs" column for the Elyria Chronicle for 7
years and was a member of the Dog Writers Association of America during that
time. She was asked to write and narrate the video "Obedience For Your Dog"
which was distributed in 6 states and the District of Columbia as wells.
- has appeared with her dogs on local television spots and co-hosted fund-raisers
withWJW TVs personality, Dick Goddard, for humane organizations.
- has worked with almost all AKC breeds as well as many Rare Breeds and is an AKC
approved Canine Good Citizen evaluator.
- has successfully raised and shown Briards in the '80s and, since 1990, has
successfully raised, shown and bred her Leonbergers at Cherrywood. A new
addition at Cherrywood is future star, a beautiful Havana Silk Dog.
- has bred Cherrywood Leonbergers for health, type and temperament since 1990
and was instrumental in getting an LPN1 genetic mutation test to help breeders
eliminate one of the severe, early onset polyneuropathy affecting the breed.
